How to Connect 2 Computers for File Sharing

Monday, April 14, 2008

Top Blogs

Connecting two computers for file-sharing & playing:

1. Goto: Start --> Control Panel --> Network Connections --> Local Area Connection.

2. Right Click on "Local Area Connection" and goto "Properties" as shown..

3. Now choose "Internet Protocol TCP/IP", click on properties button.

4. You must now see a dialog as shown.
5. Choose "Use the following IP address:" and enter the values as shown in the figure.

6. On the other computer you must fill it up in the similar manner. But change it to a
different value say "193.193.193.8 or something like that. (The first three sets of digits must be the same, and you must change only the value at the 4 position).

Now get a Peer-To-Peer (P2P) wire from any computer shop. That will cost you less than $4 USD.
Connect the wire on two systems on the LAN Port.

It'll take some time to settle down once you have connected the wire.
Now just right click on any folder/drive and enable sharing. There you go!

For playing games like Need For Speed, Counter Strike these setting itself will work, else
Goto the "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" and fill in the "Default Gateway" with the IP values that you have set.
